American Dreamers
by Jay Diers

There's a real market out there for guys who are perceived to be "corn-fed." I have a friend whose online personal ad describes him as "just another corn-fed boy from Iowa." Jay Diers, a resident of Marion, Iowa, photographs such boys, and looking at his gallery here, it becomes clear why those of us in the city romanticize these strapping products of the Heartland. They1re appealing on so many levels, with their charming implied naivete, not too much money or flash, good diet (of corn, one would assume), great body, honest values, and an unhurried life. Aside from just being spectacularly beautiful, they represent an ideal that most of us seek but often fail to find — a connection to nature, a sense of goodwill, an easy strength unencumbered by urban neuroses. You can picture his subjects, with a duffel bag slung over one shoulder, stepping off the Greyhound and into your life, bringing with them all the simplicity and honesty you've been searching for, allowing everything to fall into place. — Will Doig

Jay Diers is a professional photographer. Jay has been published in BLUE magazine in Austraila, MANNER magazine in German and just began working with PLAYGIRL magazine. I recently published my second coffee table book of male nudes entitled RAW YOUTH, published by BRUNO GMUNDER.

I have begun working in my third book entitled "MOTEL" and it is going to revolve around boys to men having their sexual awakening. Whether gay or straight, it be their first time, by themselves, with a women or with a man or exploring the animalistic nature of eroticism and breaking stereotypes of testosterone in the one place you are anonymous...a motel.
